Symptom

Symptoms

BGP Local RIB on peer does not show aggreagted routes, instead it shows the contributing routes as advertised.

Palo Alto Networks firewall advertising the aggregate route has the following contributing routes:

172.31.2.0/23

172.31.0.0/24

The aggregate route to be advertised is 172.31.0.0/21.

BGP RIB Out is found to have "suppressed specific" for aggregate status:

Diagnosis

An Export rule for the same set of contributing routes causes the issue :

Resolution

Removal of the above Export resolves the issue and the BGP RIB Out shows the "aggregate" as status:

aggregate-result-final.PNG

BGP Local RIB on peer now shows the aggregate route.
