Symptom

After loading and installing the PAN-DB license, the URL Database Version remains 0000.00.00.000. This can be verified using show url-cloud status CLI command.

When attempting to download the PAN-DB seed database GUI:Device > Licenses > PAN-DB URL Filtering, "Download Now" link cannot be clicked.

Environment

PAN-OS 8.1 or lower.
Palo Alto Firewall.
URL Filtering enabled.

Cause

The region setting for PAN-DB was not set correctly during the initial install.

Resolution

Log into the device CLI and run the commands listed to download the PAN-DB seed database. Select the appropriate region that matches your country.

> request url-filtering download paloaltonetworks region <region_name>
> request url-filtering download status vendor paloaltonetworks
