Convert Brightcloud into PAN-DB

L4 Transporter

We have an active Brightcloud URL filtering license. We would like to start using PAN-DB. Our sales tells me this is only possible at time of license renewal (that would be another 9 months for us).

I find this hard to believe. Is there no way the Brightcloud URL filtering license can be converted into a PAN-DB license ?

Hi Dieter,

Thanks for your post!  PAN-DB does require a separate license from BrightCloud, and there is no official migration of licenses between the two.  Please speak with your sales representative to see what their policy is regarding this.  Regardless of what answer you find from your sales representative, you are always welcome to purchase and apply a PAN-DB license before your BrightCloud license expires (or vice versa).  Should you do this, the process of activating the new license will migrate any existing policies to the new vendor.

Hope this helps,

Doris

Maybe as a sales effort on your reseller's side Smiley Happy

However as both DBs and services are different (and provided by two different enterprises), a simpe "conversion" is not possible.

It should be just a matter of changing the license (which is already paid). Or is it directly correlated to a license PAN pays to Brightcloud ?

We upgraded some of our end users to PAN-DB from Brightcloud. You need to request an upgrade from URL2 to URL4 I think. Technically it should zero out on the invoice since the transaction is done pro rata. It can be done at any point, as long as the Brightcloud license is valid of course Smiley Happy
