Hello dear community,

Cortex is gathering some eventlogs.

I am about to activate the powershell scriptblock events.

The main question is, does any ML or BIOC check the eventlog for bad behaviour?

Or do we have to create our own rules?

Hi @Cyber1985 ,

Cortex XDR does collect event log 4103 for examining the logs for powershell script blocks. It surely would examine the same in the post execution modules(like BTP, etc) to check and calculate any rules and heuristics matching the malicious activity to generate alerts on the same. We have used cases for testing when powershell was used to Invoke and Enable/Disable Script Block Logging and Cortex XDR detected it as malicious. For security concerns, we cannot share screenshots/rules for the same here.

You can using XQL query for the event ID and observe behaviours for the same and can create correlation and BIOC rules accordingly if you want to.
