SQL Server Best Practices

Hello.

I am looking for configuration best practices for agent config, exclusions/exceptions for MS SQL. I am new to XDR but I know in similar products it's normal to exclude the database files from live scanning, etc and I can't seem to find any documentation talking about the unique config needs of SQL.

Thank you for reaching out to Palo Alto live community.

Unfortunately we do not have a document which is specific for SQL, however as you want to prevent a specific SQL server from live scan/schedule scan then you can just disable the periodic scan under Malware Profile. Please refer the Malware Security profile document for additional information:

As a best practice you can configure different profiles and policies, one for servers where you want to prevent any live scan or periodic scan and can disable it and the other profile and policy for the endpoints or server which are less critical and you want to enable the periodic scan under malware profile. You can configure deferent profile and policies (Malware Security Profile, Exploit Profile, Agent Settings profile, etc) for servers and endpoint and configure the policy as per the requirement.
