I was going to delete them all and start over with a new naming convention for my admins, so they are easier to find and use. But when I tried to delete them, I was warned it would disconnect anything that was installed using the generated files.

Question 1: Can I rename them and retain the link to the console on computers that used the previously named installer?
Question 2: Do we need to keep these files if the Agent has been upgraded since installer generation? Meaning, if we remove them will the agents delink from the console even though they have been upgraded?

Thank you,

Hi @J.Suter, thanks for reaching us using the Live Community.

Q1: Is safe to rename the packages, the agent connectivity to the console relays in the Package ID. Take a look at our documentation for more details.

Q2: You need to keep the packages in the console even after the upgrade process, the package ID keeps the same in the endpoints. You can hide the old packages, take a look at the previous linked doc.

You can change the name, as the documentation explains: "Since Cortex XDR relies on the installation package ID to approve agent registration during the installation..."

The package name is just a human readable way to know what each package is.

You can enable the "ID" field from the three dots menu on the top-right corner in the Agent Installations view.
