Hi @V.Swarbrick ,

Thank you for writing to live community. The reason why the documentation or product information states that VDIs and TS cannot be upgraded is pretty obvious from the nature of VDIs and TS because upgrading the VDI image will span only till the lifecycle of that VDI instance or session. New VDI instances will still spin out with agent versions which has been deployed on the golden images and as such will render the upgrade process without any outcome and would result waste of bandwidth for upgrade process. As a result, recommendation is always to upgrade the golden images which will eventually bring the VDI images to the required versions.

Please feel free to mark the response as "Accept as Solution" if it answers your query.

Upgrade Cortex XDR Agent VDI workstation through Console

Hi peeps,

Just checking, I've noticed today that I can initiate upgrade cortex agent for VDI workstation through console (from 8.4.1 to 8.5.1 version). Even on the pop-up agent upgrade there's still note saying "Note: VDI and Android agents cannot be upgraded." but I did it anyway and it worked.

I also checked on the docs which also still mentioned it cant be done (https://docs-cortex.paloaltonetworks.com/r/Cortex-XDR/Cortex-XDR-Documentation/Upgrade-Cortex-XDR-agents).

Is this new feature? I wonder if there's any impact to upgrade the agent through console for VDI workstation? Is it just the documentation not updated? I'm pretty sure there were no option to upgrade agent on VDI workstation previously.

Any insights?

Thanks!
