SOLUTION:

Update to 6.2.1-132. Killed the visual bug for us and worked like always without any issues.

UPDATE:

Looks like PAN released 6.2.1 in the night from Monday to Tuesday (20:21 CEST). Release Notes are promising, we are already updating the first few clients for evaluation about fixing the "internal gateway connecting". I'll update the thread.

looks like we also fell into this issue for now quite some weeks - AFAIK if you are in the VPN network, the tray will not blink anytime - only when connected to the internal network and there after 60 minutes (should match with the policies issued in the GP portal settings). You are not impacted by outages or anything it is only a optical bug which is problematic as we refer to this icon for specific limited connections to 3rd party software.

Is there any plan releasing a 6.2.1 in future in the next few weeks from PAN or a potential hotfix for this specific version?
