Hi @RockHound23 ,

It's likely that this issue is related to OPSWAT and the best solution is to upgrade the GlobalProtect client.

GlobalProtect uses a Host Information Profile (HIP) to verify endpoint security posture. This process relies on a third-party engine from OPSWAT to detect and report on installed antivirus, antimalware, and other security software. Older versions of the GlobalProtect client, such as 6.0.7, often have outdated OPSWAT libraries that can't correctly detect newer versions of security software like Norton 360.

When your firewall's HIP check looks for Norton 360, the old OPSWAT library in GlobalProtect 6.0.7 simply can't find it. This causes the client to report that no anti-malware is installed, which then fails the HIP check and prevents the user from connecting to the VPN.

Related knowledge base article:

Hope this helps,

I installed the GlobalProtect client on my Windows 11 computer. But when I try to connect, I get an error message that I don't have anti-malware software installed or enabled. I use Norton 360, but GlobalProtect does not see it. The anti-malware section of the Host Information Profile of the GlobalProtect app settings only identifies Windows Defender (which is disabled since Norton 360 replaces that functionality). Is there any way to get it to see Norton 360?

Based on the information I found online, Norton 360 appears among the supported software. The "tested version" list does not include the latest versions of Norton 360. Does that mean GlobalProtect no longer supports Norton 360, or has it just not been tested?

Any other tips or recommendations?

Versions (as of posting):

GlobalProtect: 6.2.5-788

Norton 360: 25.2.9898

Hi @BohmanC ,

This seems very similar to existing bug where real-time-protection status for Norton 360 was not detected on GP 5.2.8 / 6.0.3 for macOS 12.6.
This was supposed to be fixed however in GP 6.0.5.

Looks like you might be running into a regression bug of some sort.

I would recommend reaching out to TAC for a confirmation/upgrade path.

Kind regards,

We are having the same issue with a vendor using GP client 6.0.7. I have a ticket open and they are looking at the client logs. Waiting to hear back. I assume they are going to tell me to upgrade the client version. Did you get this resolved? If so, what was the fix for you?
