Add a new filter to add a few apps from other categories that rely on SSL. Create an application group of the previously created filters. Add that application group to your security policy.

Hello Community,

A bit of context :

- we have a server that queries external websites

- we allowed the "ssl" app from this server to the outside world

- we discovered that some of the trafic originated by this server was dropped because of the firewall detecting it as a specific application, not "ssl"

I understand that this behaviour is intended and allow a more granular approach. You might want to authorize access to Microsoft and not to Amazon, and the specific apps can help for that. However, in our case we do not need (and do not want) to go that deep in application detection. Do you know of a way to authorize ssl and all the applications that relies on it in a security rule or to not look further than the ssl detection (without going for an L4 rule)?

I hope that I am clear, thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,

Théo

Hello NWilliams3,

Thank you very much for your reply. I had a talk with another person working for PAN and we came to the same conclusion.

Have a great day,

Théo
