topic Identity collector on Palo alto in Next-Generation Firewall Discussions

I have a question about a Checkpoint feature that I have to move on PA.

ATM the Checkpoint use an agent called "Identity collector" to gets all user connected to the AD and populate the internal firewall table with User - IP.

How it works now with CP:

1° AD server

2° Windows server with the Checkpoint Identity collector installed

3° Checkpoint Fw

The Identity collector fetch all login event from the AD and send the information "USER - IP" to the CP FW.

If a user try to reach internet the Firewall check to AD if the User is present and allow the internet traffic based on the security rules.

The customer would like to have a similar solution.

I'm used with the Captive Portal solution but not with an Agent. There is a similar solution that I can configure on PA?

Hi @Charlie80 ,

Instead of the Checkpoint Identity Collector, you would install the Windows User-ID Agent on a server.

https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/pan-os/10-1/pan-os-admin/user-id/map-ip-addresses-to-users/configure-user-mapping-using-the-windows-user-id-agent/install-the-windows-based-user-id-agent

https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/pan-os/9-1/pan-os-admin/user-id/map-ip-addresses-to-users/configure-user-mapping-using-the-windows-user-id-agent/configure-the-windows-based-user-id-agent-for-user-mapping

It will work the same as your previous solution.

Thanks,
