Migration from 220 to 3020

Hi All,

Need to migrate palo alto 220 with same configuration and connectivity with palo alto 3020. Please let me know what are the steps need to considered and if any document is available please share it.

I have done this a number of times. Verify the software and updates are the same and export and import the configuration! That document assumes the same model, but I have done it with different models many times. In most cases, the interfaces are exactly the same.

The document also recommends exporting device state. In many instances, that is not necessary. Here are the differences from the NGFW help (? in the upper right).

Export configuration version

Exports a Version of the running configuration as an XML file.

Export device state

(Firewall only)

Exports the firewall state information as a bundle. In addition to the running configuration, the state information includes device group and template settings pushed from Panorama. If the firewall is a GlobalProtect™ portal, the bundle also includes certificate information, a list of satellites that the portal manages, and satellite authentication information. If you replace a firewall or portal, you can restore the exported information on the replacement by importing the state bundle.

That box will help you decide which one to choose.
