topic Is it possible to create custom App-ID objects that call out to custom-developed code for signature recognition? in Automation/API Discussions

We have a PAN 2020 in our lab which we are using to explore recognition, detection, and selective authorization of obscure, legacy application protocols that are not natively supported by the PAN 2020.

We have successfully created custom App-ID objects that recognize some of our application protocols using the built-in regular expression support. However, use of regular expressions for recognizing some of our other legacy application protocols has turned out to be either not practical or not possible. Hence, we would like to determine whether it is possible to create custom App-ID objects that call out to custom-developed code (e.g. C, C++ or Java code) that would then perform the job of protocol signature recognition. Does the PAN provide this type of capability?
