We have developed a quite comprehensive user mapping system utilising the user-id API for PANOS 5.... i understand that PA are actually promoting this themselves now;

Our scripts have been deployed at the bulk of our sites and we would be mapping over 5k users this way (vs agentless or agent based)

We are actually due for a new release soon (Twitter / CESANetWAN: We are calling upon sites to ...) so we would be happy for people to submit feature requests via that
