PAN-OS Expiration Versions

HI,

Currently on version Current version: 9.1.12-h3 for both our firewalls.

My team leader has downloaded version: 9.1.12-h6 for me to finish and upgrade to as she is now on leave.

Just wondering if the version she has downloaded will be adequate enough to rectify the expiry of the current PAN OS on the 31st of Dec.

Will there be any outages with the update?

I haven't updated any of the OS's before so i am a little bit hesitant in doing the update by myself even though i have read through the instructions, have had a hard time with support as well. Has anyone had PA remote on and perform the update for them? We have the premium support but unsure if it covers this.

Thanks!

Hello @mzengin,

The upgrade that you had listed will work for this situation. As long as you upgrade your version, the certificate will be renewed. As for the outage question; yes, whenever you upgrade a PAN os there is a mandatory restart of the device which will cause an outage for a few minutes. If you're feeling unsure of how to perform the update, be sure to refer to the documentation and you will be just fine.
https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/pan-os/10-1/pan-os-upgrade/upgrade-pan-os/upgrade-the-firewall-pan-os/determine-the-upgrade-path#id85bdf6f4-2e83-49f0-8525-3eb2163f2d2e

Best of luck
