SNMP (V3) not working on MGMT Interface

Issue: SNMP (V3) not working on Management Interface.

Description:

Customer have configured SNMP monitoring from Logic Monitor and Palo Alto but and its working fine for Dataplane interface but if we change it to management interface its not working and getting the error message as below.

Troubleshooting Done:

1. Checked the configuration and its correct and working fine when the interface changed from Management to Data plane Interface.

2. SNMP option is enabled in Mgmt Interface and IP address of the SNMP tool is permitted in the Mgmt Interface settings.

3. Checked for the authentication and algorithm and changed it to the recommended (SHA, AES) but issue persists.

4. Restarted the Mgmt and snmpd processes but the issue still persists.

5. Checked for any issues for the specific PAN-OS version and there was none reported.

6. Changed the SNMP version to SNMPV2 but there issue is still the same.

Can anyone help to confirm if there is any known internal issue which is not publicly mentioned and if there is any further troubleshooting or workaround that needs to be performed.

Hello team,

I was having the same issue, but with SNMPv2c. I took a dataplane and management plane capture via CLI and noticed in the SNMP UDP packets that the PRTG Manager was using an incorrect community value defined under Device > Setup > Operations > SNMP Setup, then I adjusted it on the PRTG Manager to match the FW SNMP community and finally the monitoring returned to normal state.
