      <title>What does the configd process do for PAN-OS?</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I'm documenting new services in PAN-OS present in 10.x. What does the configd process do? It appears to bind to udp/28879 (if only accessible "internally"). I do not see this service described in the Commonly Used Processes/Daemons url found here:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;For configd, generally speaking, its involved in the commit process, but I believe there is more to it than that. I'll reach out to see if I can get answers for you.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Also configd is used to access the PA via GUI and CLI.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If configd process is stuck or not working, then you will be unable to access PA via GUI or CLI.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Yes, it is also involved in commit process.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
