Hi All,

Has anyone tried this yet and does it work?

to use a Cisco SFP-10GB-LR module in a PA-3430.

yes I am aware of the support aspect around not being true palo branded, but time is of the essence and I need a quick solution as the Palo branded SFP is 5-6weeks leadtime and cannot wait that long.the Cisco SFP i have some spares but not close to the FW to test myself.

thanks in adv

Hello @PA_nts

I have not personally tested the mentioned Cisco SFP module, but you may find the following article helpful. It discusses non-PANW SFPs and can be found at the following link: https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/operations-documentation/hw-accessory-cross-reference-810-000077-0be-updated-on-01-30/ta-p/63422.

@PA_nts,

I've done plenty of deployments that use Cisco's SFP-10G-LR without issue, but I can't say that I've done so on this specific platform for certain. Generally speaking I don't stress too much about using supported PAN optics; I've never once ran into an issue with PAN asking for a supported receiver unless it truly looked like the transceiver being used might be causing the issue.

Thanks for the feedback - will try these SFPs and will post the outcome once tested
