I've requested an eval version via Palo Alto website and I received links to download the software for ESX and KVM like so:

for my setup I used to ESX VM and the version that I got is "PA-VM-ESX-10.2.5.bm eval.ova".

The PA-VM eval is crashing after minutes since reboot

Hello,

I've created this discussion because I've downloaded PA-VM eval for ESXi [.ova] and tried to launch this using VMware workstation PRO [latest version].

I found on the LIVEcommunity some threads like so:

https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/general-topics/pa-vm-10-0-4-trial-gets-shutdown-after-a-minute/td-p/501973

however, once I followed the below steps

1. Import PA-VM to VMware workstation

2. Extend disk space to 100GB

3. Increase RAM to 16 GB

4. Increase CPU to 4.

5. Boot PA-VM machine

6. PA-HFD login appeared for hours

7. Reinstalled Pa-VM via 'disk image' and PA-VM login was available, however device started rebooting after about minutes.

8. I've changed the clock in the BIOS of the VM and unchecked clock synchronization in VMware Workstation

9. After the above steps PA-VM was accessible BUT once I changed the primary and secondary NTP server, PA-VM rebooted automatically and after bootup, the device forgot all credentials created and default password also. In essence, the device became absolutely useless.

Actually I've no clue how to proceed further because I want to use this machine connected to the Internet but how if NTP can't be configured correctly...

Dear PA Community, may you have encountered a similar problem and managed to solve it.

BR Adam

Is there a 11.X panos version that is available by chance?

there is no option to chose the version. Palo Alto provided the website where you can request for the evaluation version and afterwards you'll receive download links for KVM and ESXi platforms.

You get what they send. That is not fine that distributing version is not working on designated platform.

If you know how to request for 11.X panos version I will do, because I don't. I will be grateful for any advice because current PAN OS is currently useless.

Do you have any idea how we can manage with this issue? I used "we" because on forum is much more threads like that and I didn't find anyone who is able to work with version 10.2.5.
