Hi. We're running 4.1.9 on our firewalls and have an issue where all Syslog logging is being duplicated.

I've seen an old bug fix report saying that 4.1 fixed an issues with some Config messages being duplicated, but was wondering if there is a known issue with 4.1.9 duplicating messages?

I'm going through the config at the moment to see if I can find an error in the setup, but nothing jumps out as yet?!

Thanks

From Release notes of 4.1.10 page 50

The following lists outstanding issues related to the PAN-OS documentation.

• The following bug was fixed in 4.1.9, but was not reported in the 4.1.9 release note. 43708 (associated bugs: 46406, 43700, 42566) Bug description: When sending threat and traffic logs to an external syslog server and to Panorama, some of the threat logs were being discarded and did not appear on both log servers. Issue was due to bind errors that occurred on the firewall during heavy log traffic.

I have also checked internally and it seems that the bug reported against this is fixed in 4.1.10/5.0.0 instead of 4.1.9. I think there was some mistake in the release notes as per the above comment from the release notes. So if possible i would suggest you to upgrade to 4.1.10 to or higher to resolve the issue.

Let us know if this helps you resolve your issue.

Thank you

Numan
