Can you provide a simple network drawing of how everything is connected?

Like where is the client located, where is the server located, are there any other stuff connected aswell?

A quick verification if you suffer from "slowness" is to verify interface configurations. For gigabit make sure to use auto for speed and auto for duplex and verify that any switches/routers your PAN is connected to does the same.
