Multiple PBF probes?

We would like to configure PBF to failover when several conditions are met. For instance, if we can't ping our next hop AND we can't ping some public server(s). The idea being, while our next hop might be pingable, there may be a routing issue in the ISP. Therefore, you want to know to if you should failover based on remote beacons. However, we don't want to base failover on just a single remote beacon as Google has bad days too. Is there any way to do this?

For PBF to go down we need to have some ip address to which we should ping. So the only way is to have a reliable ip address to which we can ping.

I understand that, but what if I want to say that multiple addresses must fail pings in order for a PBF rule to trigger?

In this case we can clone the pbf rule and modify the monitoring ip address. If first pbf rule goes down then the second one(cloned one) will work if the issue is not with ISP.

you can create one policy per each server you're going to monitor. Just make sure to check the option "disable this rule if next hop/monitor is unreachable" (first screenshot in the next kb)

For the monitor profile attached to the PBF you can select either wait/recover or failover dependiong on your needs, the actions the firewall will take are explained in the admin guide (second column as disabled is goind to be selected in the PBF)

You can create multiple PBF rules with different monitored IPs.

Note: This PBF rules will NOT provide redundancy for existing sessions. For any existing sessions using PBF rule 1, if the PBF Rule 1 fails, the traffic will failback to routing table. It will not use the PBF rule 2. Only for new sessions the traffic will start using PBF Rule 2.
