Hi all,

Appreciate if you can guide me to block facebook-apps and facebook-chat in Palo Alto but allow other facebook features. I already implemented it in Application layer but failed, is there something i am missed? I am using PA-3020 and 7.0.3 version.

Application Version : 591-3403 (06/25/16)

Hi,

Facebook should be blocked without doing SSL decryption according to te article below:

https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/Management-Articles/Facebook-Blocked-without-SSL-Decryption-Enabled/ta-p/55086

But for "facebook-app" and "facebook-chat" you need to implement SSL decryption because as soon as your facebook allowed all session is going to be SSL and Palo has no visibility what is inside.

Please double check what App ID you configured in the security policy. Would be better if you can just post policy and logs from the monitoring tab.

Thanks

PAN-OS 7.0.3 supports less cipher suites for decryption.

Palo Alto Networks added support for additional cipher suites in PAN-OS 7.1 :
