I am currently on 7.0.7 and was thinking of upgrading to most stable version. Does anyone have any recommendation or cautions?

Different versions can act/behave differently with various configurations in the different environment. The best thing is always to read release notes, check the know issues and the critical. See the link below for critical issues:
