Can I upgrade from 7.1.2 to 8.0 upright ?

Yes, you can upgrade to the next version without having to do a hop. But I would recommend installing the latest 7.1 code as a safety measure just in case 8.0 breaks everything. If you upgrade to the latest 7.1, this is a much better rollback point than having to go back to much older 7.1.2 code.

Also, remember to take backups!

yes you can upgrade directly from any 7.1 to 8.0, good idea to first load the latest 7.1, just in case
