I have a report that shows any traffic that hits my DNS Sinkhole rule, but it doesn't show what the URL was or if it was spyware. I want to add the URL or the threat type (spyware/virus) to the sinkhole report.

That's how I have it set up now, but all it shows is the source of the DNS query. But it doesn't show the URL or type of threat

The IP and URL of infected client would be seen in 'Suspicious DNS queries' events. But I guess in your case the source IP of DNS query is of DNS server which other hosts are using?

In that case PA doesn't have an association which client asked for which URL so you won't be able to achieve this just on PA. However the idea of DNS sinkhole is to identify infected hosts and i would say it doesn't really matter with what are they infected, you just want to clean them and stop them appearing in any threat logs 🙂

I absolutely agree, but the reason I asked is because I need to create a report that shows proof that this desktop is attempting to talk to malicious domains. I have public wifi on my network, so the desktop's IP changes and User-ID does not work if the machine connects to the public wifi network. So the only way I can tell it's the same machine is if they are both accessing identical URL's

Well if it's accessing the IP assigned by DNS sinkhole then it's certainly trying to connect to malicious domain. No other reason to access that IP.

And the DNS query is part of C&C traffic so time betwen DNS query and actual (http) connection to C&C server is less than a second so no chance of IP changing in between.
