you could install a second client, that way you have full redundancy in case of outage of the first (due to error or upgrade)

I am thinking to upgrade userid Current 6.0.4-3 to 7.0.8.

my current panos is 7.1.4h2

will this cause an outage to the users that are already on the firewall?

My understanding is that we will just not going to be able to map new users loggin in to the domain during this process.

please confirm.

Thank you.

that will depend on the user identification timeout setting on the agent.

not sure what the default time is for this but i changed mine to 1440 (24hrs) so all my current users would be ok but yes this may cause an issue for new logins if they are outside your timeout setting. (address expired)

from what I can remember the upgrade was quick.

As @Mick_Ball pointed out this entirely depends on what your timeout setting is and how your policy actually looks. Yes it's possible this will cause an outage if you have users age-out during the upgrade process and your security policies mandate user-id information.
