Hello!

I have 2 PA-5020 with 5.0 software and want to upgrade them to 8.0. One way to do this is to follow upgrade procedure.

Configuration is very simple and can be deleted.

Is it possible to upload 8.0 software using GUI, boot firewall in maintenance mode and reset it to factory defaults using 8.0? Or is is possible to use FTP in maintenance mode to upload 8.0 and then reset it to factory defaults using 8.0?

Thank you and best regards,

Maja Kopcic

Hi @mkopcic

you will not be able to take a shortcut into 8.0

if your config is simple and can be deleted, you can take a small shortcut by only installing and booting into the base images:

5.1>6.0>6.1>7.0>7.1>8.0

boot cycle/autocommit will be quicker if you start from a clean slate, so it may be worth performing a factory reset first so everything is cleared out (logs can take a long time to convert to the next PAN-OS)
