Disk quotas can not be computed due to disk

Hello Team,

We have seen in the PA 5200 series that the following log appears: "Disk quotas can not be computed due to disk" It appears just after the boot in the system logs. Have you ever seen this log? What it means? Is dangerous for the firewall?

Hi @ccoquis,

I'm guessing the disk might be running full.

If the root is full, the device cannot to perform certain maintenance tasks.

What is the normal "usage" of this partitions? is normal to be up to 90%?

That log is likely a false positive, since it happens only at boot time. Most likely there are system checks happening and the disk is not yet ready, so it reports that error. A search yielded some more text for the error, does this match yours? You may need to click the magnifying glass next to the log to get the full text.

Disk quotas can not be computed due to disk info is not available. Ignoring and using defaults instead.

As for the percentages, yes you want it to be quite full. It's a rotating log (first in, first out). Any empty space is wasted. There's definitely a need for buffer, since you may get a burst of logs that cannot be predicted. This is why it doesn't stay higher (like 99% or similar).
