Are there any users that are blocking akamai? Some sites lose functionality if you block akamai. Any feedback would be great.

Thanks.

Don't think it'll be a good idea as different domain uses akamai as distributor.

Akamai is a Content Delivery Network (CDN) where many web sites subscribe to distribute their contents. Other CDNs can be found like mqcdn.com for mapquest and turnercdn.com for cnn. If you block these CDNs you will see broken web pages because the contents (images, videos, flash, etc) of the page may be coming from these CDN sites.

The URL category for CDN is for measurement purpose so the admin can see how much bandwidth is used by CDN. Typically, you would allow CDN sites and do not log so it does not fill up the log storage.

Thanks.
