Hello,

There are a lot of 'it depends' questions/answers.

What does the currenty proxy do?

Does it do authentication or just a URL filter with advanced logging?

We use the PAN as a proxy, but it does not perform authentication.

Just really depends on what your company expects from a 'proxy'

Regards,

Hello,

Here are the replies:

1. Yes it does this with Userid to IP mappings. Then you can use AD groups to select which URL filtering profile the users in that AD group receive.

2. Yes, this is done with URL filtering and you will require the license. The catagories might be a bit different, I'm sure they are, so make sure to let maangement make the calls.

https://knowledgebase.paloaltonetworks.com/KCSArticleDetail?id=kA10g000000Cm5hCAC

3. Yes, you can whitelist or blacklist and create your own catagories.

4. No, the PAN does not use PAC files. This would only ber for users behind the PAN or VPN'ed in.

Regards,
