Hi All ,

Is there any specific reason why we can't have same VLAN tag defined on the parent virtual wire interface and the subinterface ?

Thanks ..

Hello,

I guess my question would be, why would you want to? With subinterfaces, you are logically splitting up the interface into the different vlans. So what you are wanting is to setup two of the same thing.

Hope that makes sense.

@deepak12,

To more directly answer your question it's because you already of the VLAN assigned on the same interface, and therefore you can't be expecting a tag on both the actual interface and then the sub-interface at the exact same time.
