I have a vpn tunnel from palo to checkpoint(peer side). Only one proxy id seems to be having issues intermittently. the other network engineer is asking me to shut off DPD on palo since checkpoint doesn't know how to process them. did anyone experience this before?

DPD is known to cause reliability issues if it's only active on one peer.

Hay Thatipelly,

The CP-FW supports DPD above R77.10 but is not enabled by Default on Check Point. Refer this sk97746 or administator guid and enable it on your peer.

However you need to determine whether using DPD Responder or Permanent Tunnel with DPD.
