there is no specific difference. in earlier releases of the palo alto os we bundled av, app, and threat in one update. These updates were released weekly.

in the new releases of the palo alto os we seperated the the updates into two packages. one for just av and one for app and threat. this would allow us to provide daily updates for just av. app and threat releases weekly.

Hi, I'm brand new to PA devices and have a newbie question. What's the difference between the antivirus signatures in the Applications And Threats Dynamic Update package and the antivirus signatures in the Antivirus Dynamic Update package? Looking at the Release Notes for the Applications And Alerts package there are antivirus signatures in there, but nowhere near as many as the Antivirus package.

https://updates.paloaltonetworks.com/updates/ReleaseNotes.aspx?type=si&versionNumber=278-1187&content=contents&inc=False

Thanks,

-Bryan
