template and template stack names are purely used on panorama to combine, mix and match firewall configuration. when you push, panorama only sends those config snippets.

the names of the templates do not make it over to the firewall so will not have an impact when changed ... zones on the other hand are one of the core parts of how the firewall operates (zone based firewall) so changing these does have consequences

Hello,

We have a few firewall clusters managed by Panorama and are looking to change the naming schema for templates and template stacks. Does anyone know if changing these would have any affect on firewall operations? We previously changed the zone naming of firewalls and saw that it had major affect on VPN tunnels terminating on that zone as it basically created a new zone ID.

I'm seeing affect on other firewalls in the commit messages so a bit unsure if it is just the ordering in Panorama that will change or if it actually will do any damage. We are running 8.1 version for both Panorama and firewalls.

Thanks in advance,
