Hello Community,

Has anyone here found a decent way to have a report generated automatically on a periodic basis for the Policy Optimizer suggestions? I.e. A PDF generated every Monday morning with a list of Unused policies in the past 30 days, etc.?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

You can use Best Practice Assessment (BPA) Tool — The BPA for next-generation firewalls and Panorama evaluates a device’s configuration by measuring the adoption of capabilities, validating whether the policies adhere to best practices, and providing recommendations and instructions for how to remediate failed best practice checks. This page will provide more information about this feature.

HTH

The policy optimizer is not available to be interacted with via the NGFW API, so we're limited with options.

Best shot? The ssh command, show rule-hit-count vsys vsys-name rule-base security rules all and parsing that table. Scheduling a chron job to run as need type deal. Not elegant, by any means...
