Mark, a Network Architect, answered a few questions about his work.
Can you tell us about your job and responsibilities?
I am a Network Architect and Manager and I am responsible for enterprise communications and VoIP.
What is a recurring challenge your organization faces?
I struggle with the user community as a whole. Most users on an enterprise network tend to have a very myopic view of the network they are connected to. They have trouble understanding the shared nature of it and do not understand that resources are not unlimited, whether the resource is bandwidth or time.
What is one feature you want to learn more about?
The one I "need" to learn more about is SSL decryption.
In terms of the next few months, what is the biggest priority for you?
Getting the rest of my Fortigates removed.
What do you like most about working with Palo Alto Networks products?
The consistency of the product. After a year I have not (knock on wood) had a problem going from release to release. With our previous vendor I lived in fear of upgrading because, frankly, you never knew what was going to break or if it would work at all. I have developed a confidence in Palo Alto Networks' product.
How did it make you feel to win the watch?
Great. But I have to say I worked pretty hard to get it. I had to pass by, linger and lurk the community booth about a 100 times.
