Import Expediton image into VMware Workstation 10

L2 Linker

I am trying to import the vmx image into VMware but the import fails as it cannot find a Linux OS.

The import is using VMware Workstation 10 for Windows.

What is the best practice procedure to import this image into VMware given there is no ova or iso posted format to import (I tried using the VMware conversion tool but this fails as well with the vmx image selected)?

Thank you,  Rich

The image that we are providing is already an instantiated Virtual Machine with Expediion installed.

You only need to double-click on it to let VMWare Workstation or VMWare Player run it.

You may be questioned if you "copied" or "moved" the machine. Simply click on "copied" and you should be good to go.

You only need an OVA for ESXi.

Correct me if I am wrong.

When I extract from the tar file all looks good.  When I try to "open" or "new virtual machine" under VM Workstation 10x it does not work.

"Open" sees the image as incompatible, "new vitual machine" does not see the Linux OS and requests this be added.

I never get the option to select "copied".

I have downlaoded the image from our Community Live site multiple times to be sure there is no corruption.
