Changing master key on Log Collector within the same Panorama

L6 Presenter

Scenario:

Panorama (in Panorama mode) with single local Log Collector

A/A cluster of firewalls managed by this Panorama

We managed to change the master key on Panorama and both firewalls. But trying to change the master key of the single local Log Collector on this same Panorama fails with "Failed to schedule deploy masterkey job".

Is it even neccessary to change this master key in this scenario where Log Collector is on the same (virtual) appliance as Panorama?

@santonic,

Because there isn't any hashed values (shared-secrets, passwords) within the configuration between the log collector and Panorama itself, the fact that they don't share the same master key isn't ever going to be a problem.

Hmmm good question.

Have you continued to receive current logs, from the FWs, since changing the master key?

If yes... then I guess you would not need to.

Else... (well, let us know.  :P)

Yeah, logs are fine. So we assumed it's ok. Just wanted to be sure so it doesn't bite us some time later.
