Custom App-ID for Tinder

Not applicable

Good morning all,

We have had a situation occur where students and teachers are 'liking' each other on the Tinder dating application (www.gotinder.com), bit of a strange one but surprisingly looking on our PAN the firewall doesn't recognise it as an application?

Has anyone created it as a custom application and can share the app-ID for it or give any advice on the best way to tackle this.

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

Regards

Rob

That's great, I've submitted the request.

Do you have any idea (roughly) how long these take to be actioned?

I have to admit I'm massively surprised such a widely used App isn't being recognised.

never heard about it

Hi @DonJarmon ,

The post from @RobAnderson was almost 9 years ago.  PANW has a Tinder App-ID now -> https://applipedia.paloaltonetworks.com/.

However, your post is good info.  I wonder if Tinder is TLS and the NGFW identifies it by the CN in the certificate?  https://knowledgebase.paloaltonetworks.com/KCSArticleDetail?id=kA10g000000ClVSCA0  They could be using the 3 domains you listed.  If not, you may need to enable decryption to identify it.  I don't know what @RobAnderson eventually did, but URL filtering could have worked also.

Thanks,

Tom
