Does PAN-DB categorization apply to subdomains?

L0 Member

If I register a domain in PAN-DB for categorization (https://urlfiltering.paloaltonetworks.com/), do all subdomains automatically fall under the parent category?  For example, if I register "mywebsite.net" for categorization, will the assigned category apply to "info.mywebsite.net" as well?

Thanks!

Great question!

The answer is... it could.... it just depends.

To the best of my knowledge, the FW is actually doing the categorization based on UNI (vs URL)

So mywebsite.net may be a good site, but what if info.mywebsite.net has been corrupted with malware....

The PAN-DB could differentiate between the 2 UNIs.
