Does each terminal server require a client?

L1 Bithead

We have an environment with over 80 Citrix terminal servers, and it grows and shrinks pretty frequently.  Does each terminal server require an agent installed on it, or is there some way of multiple servers sharing one agent?  My Citrix admins are understandably concerned about trying to maintain this software on each server, and I'm not 100% sure what the max number of client connections my PA firewall can manage.

Hi Craig,

Every terminal server requires an agent.

Follow up question:

Can you script install the agent so it can be deployed fully automated when deploying new servers ?

Hi,

Haven't tried that. But you can try the following:

First you need to get a sample agent config:

1. install the .msi file maually to one of the terminal servers

2. configure the agent

3. copy the config files (xml format) in the installation path of the agent

If all the agents shared the same config (it is possible), you could probably use Windows AD to install the msi, copy the config you obtained to the installation path and restart the agent service by script.
