What GP client version do you have on the mac?

L7 Applicator

I only ask as version 4 dot something no longer has the login box.

on our win devices the username and password only pops up if the portal requests such authentication. It does not appear if portal is using certificate authentication.

so if you have set auth to usename password or radius etc then it may be that you cannot reach the portal for this to be prompted.

which version you advice to use for MAC then?

it is the last version of GP

Besides

the same problem was observed in win machines too where we installed 4.0.4

So we reinstalled earlier versions 2.0.3 but what to do with MAC

The no username and password has been removed in 4.0 upwards.

to confirm.. we use 4.x on our win devices and when the device connects to the portal it will then pop up another window for username if required.

i cannot advise on best clent for mac but make sure you have the following setting.

this is from paloalto....

You can now install and use the GlobalProtect app on Mac endpoints running macOS 10.13. Support for macOS 10.13 is available with GlobalProtect app 4.0.3 or a later release. The GlobalProtect app for macOS requires you to specify a SSL/TLS Service Profile which uses TLS 1.2 encryption in your portal and the gateway configuration.

I had a problem with high sierra, you have to install GP 4.03 to get it to work
