How to change DNS IP for "set deviceconfig setting management initcfg dns-primary x.x.x.x"

L0 Member

Palo Alto Firewall has following configuration.

set deviceconfig setting management initcfg dns-primary x.x.x.x

set deviceconfig setting management initcfg dns-secondary y.y.y.y

I was trying to change DNS ip address to another ones, but I couldn't.

It was giving me "Invalid syntax" error message.

"initcfg" option was not there when I check command with question mark after "management".

Does anyone know how to change?

Hi @Hae-Gab ,

If you want to change your DNS servers you can use the following command :

(active)# set deviceconfig system dns-setting servers
+ primary Primary DNS server IP address
+ secondary Secondary DNS server IP address
  <Enter> Finish input

Thank you @kiwi

DNS IP address under "system dns-setting" did not have problem. I was able to change it.

Problem is initial config related.

My understand is that "initcfg dns-primary" is related with initial configuration when it was installed.

I couldn't remove nor change dns ip for it, but it does exist when I check running-config.

Cheers,
