ICMP reply size in 4.1

Not applicable

Is it possible in 4.1 to limit the size of icmp replies or strip any payload in order to discourage tunneling via ICMP ?

Hi,

For me, you can't do that.

If the only thing you need in icmp is ping, ping is an app in palo.

Carefull, allow icmp not allow ping and reverse.

Hi,

You could try using the ping command in the following way to alter the size of the ping packets

PA-500> ping size 65468 source 10.30.6.104 host 4.2.2.2

This does give you the ability to vary the size of the icmp packets.

Although the size has to be between 0-65468.

How about using Zone Protection  ?

Particularly ,ICMP Large Packet(>1024)

Other Than that I second

I think it would be great if the PA could have a setting to strip the icmp (echo-request/reply) contents. Today one is forced to do this through proxyfirewall using icmp-proxy.

Does anyone know if there perhaps already exists a RFE to strip ICMP contents when passing through a PA device (or if this even is theoretically possible by the hardware being used)?

I am not aware of any  RFE for this feature.   & ,Please check with your  SE for a better insight.
