PA 5050

L4 Transporter

I heard that the PA 5050's are going end of life in 2020 so why did they sell me premium support to July 2020? Do  I loose what I bought or do they honor it till the expiration?

"Palo Alto Networks will provide technical assistance for a period of 5 years following the End-of-Sale date, provided a valid service contract is maintained on the product."

There hasn't even been an end-of-sale announcement for PA-5050:

This means that you can have a valid maintenance contract on your firewall for _at_least_ 5 years, 6 months...

As per End of life policy, the PA5050 cannot be end of life in 2020:

For hardware platforms, the following End-of-Life policy applies:

  • Palo Alto Networks will provide 6 months notice prior to a product's end of sale, at which time the product will no longer be available for order.
  • Palo Alto Networks will provide technical assistance for a period of 5 years following the End-of-Sale date, provided a valid service contract is maintained on the product.

So far there isn't an end of sale anouncement for the PA5050

@Remo

Great info thanks

Yes we were getting a renewal for our threat prevention and the person doing the quote for us made a mistake, I was not happy with them. That is good to know that we have up to 5 years after end of sale

@jdprovine

If you change your comment to be "5 years after end of sale" that would be correct.  End of life is when the firewall is no longer supportable.  I think you have the right idea, though.  There haven't been many end of sale announcements, but you can see them on the following webpage (with both dates listed!):

@jvalentine

Thanks - I updated my comment to end of sale
