Query regarding Dual ISP through 2 VPNs

L4 Transporter

Hello,

Trying to verify fail over using redundant tunnel at two different sites but it does not work properly.
Methods tried to test:

1:disabled the IPSec tunnel on one end, remote end which was monitoring the link failed over and chaned the routing table but the local PA kept the same route in the routing table.

2: changed the IPsec profile on one end.
remote end failed over and installed the backup route in the routing table.
- in the local PA, link status (circle shape) changed to red but tunnel interface status (Ethernet port shape) stayed green and didn't install the backup route in the routing table.

Is there any better way to verify the fail-over configuration?

Thanks in advance,
Farzana

Hello,

To test you could put in a deny rule in one of the PAN's to block traffic from the other one. I used that method in the past to make sure my tunnels and routes were working properly. Just be careful not to block complete access or you will lock yourself out of the site. In my configs, I used policy base frowarding with monitoring for the multiple VPN's as well as weighted routes in the PAN's virtual router.

To keep things straight in my testing, I drew up a simple diagram and then looked at my rules and go through a 'table top' exercise to see if things made sense prior to making any changes.

Hope this helps.
