Trying to install Global Protect VPN client

L0 Member

Hello All..

I am trying to install the GlobalProtect VPN client on a Windows 10 box and am having difficulties.

The machine already has the Cisco AnyConnect client on it.

The install seems to complete OK, but when I try to connect with the client it never connects.  In the log I see:

(T21360) 08/21/17 10:55:32:387 Error(  51): Driver is not installed, reinstall it now!

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client. No luck.

I also installed the client on another laptop and it works fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a windows 8 pc that has both the cisco VPN client and the globalprotect client install and they both work fine. So in my case there appears to be no relationship between the two that would cause issues that I am aware.

are you an admin on the windows10 machine? you may want to try and execute the installer 'as admin' to make sure you have enough privileges to install the driver onto the network interface

Just tried that. No luck.  The VPN network adapter never gets installed even though it says the install was successful.

I understand there's been a while since you've posted this, but I hope this finds you well.

If you've tried installing the Agent with admin rights, then I would suggest the following:

1. Disabling any third party anti-virus/firewall programs (such as Windows Defender, Norton, Sophos including web filtering, McAfee, etc) and retesting.

2. If it still fails, then you could view the Event log on the Windows pc and confirm if any relevant GlobalProtect logs are present

3. Collect Agent logs from the endpoint and contact Palo Alto Technical Support for further assistance.

I hope this helps!

Cheers
