UIA - Not domain user Identification Problem

L1 Bithead

Hello,

I have a problem/doubt with the user-id and in particular with the identification of the local machine users.

Internet access is only allowed for domain users and if the users enter in their computer with the domain account They don't have problems, but some times when the users enter with a local machine account  the UIA installed in a server ,after the periodic WMI check, shows that the user is "localmachine/user" instead of "domain/user". Is it possible to aovid that the UIA identifies a non domain account as a valid account?

Hi

For me better idea will be redirect users "localmachine/user" to Captive Portal and there authenticated as a domain user.

With regards

Slawek

How can I redirect that users???  That users could be in the same network as domain users.

You cannot redirect known user to captive portal, CP is only available to unknown IP/User mapping.

There are several ways to force domain credentials ( for example explicit login via script, exchange/shared folder/printer accesses etc) but in my option the best way to always keep user-if mapping during the ip lifecycle is the 802.1X & syslog integration within new PANOS 6.0.

To be sure have you added the users in or groups in the security policies on the firewall.

If you have not done that then you can create security policies with the users groups or users and restrict access for the other users.

Example of the policy with user groups defined is below

Thank you
