Will the config remain the same when upgrade from PAN OS 3.1.7 to PAN OS 4.0.1?

Not applicable

Hi All,

Currently the firmware that i am using is PAN OS 3.1.7... Will the existing configuration gone once i updated to PAN OS 4.0.1? Because i heard a lot things changed in the new OS.. Will it be just the same like when upgrading from PAN OS 3.0.8 to 3.1.x?

The configuration should migrate forward into 4.0.1 and you shouldn't lose anything.  The Web GUI has been enhanced, like drag-n-drop, new reports, new features so the look and feel will be different.  You may want to upgrade a lab unit (if you have one) and check it out first.

I always recommend that you backup your running-config prior to any upgrade as a precaution.
